K-Beauty Haul!~ (Tony Moly, Etude House)

K-beauty is annoyingly hard to come by in the UK. I mean, there is some about, but when I think k-beauty I think about two brands in particular: Tony Moly and Etude House. Ever seen any of that stuff here? Nope! But you know where does (just about) have it?! Malaysia! And guess where I spent my summer…? Okay I’ll just stop now… xD

As you can see, I didn’t really buy a lot, as even though stuff in Malaysia is notoriously wayyy cheaper than the UK, make-up (in my experience) isn’t. But still, it’s much cheaper than a) buying online from and paying insane shipping and import, or b) going to South Korea and buying the stuff in person, so yeah.

Panda’s Dream So Cool Eye Stick Serum

SOS Care Pink Clay Therapy Pack
Brightening White Colour Clay Therapy Pack

Tony Moly has some of the cutest packaging I’ve ever seen and every time I see their stuff I wanna buy something random just because it’s so damn cute. Saying that though, their skin care apparently is pretty great. Their Panda’s Dream So Cool Eye Stick for example, besides being freaking adorable, actually works quite nicely for puffy under-eyes and is also pretty damn soothing during hay fever season in particular! And as for the clay therapy packs, well… my face is having major issues at the moment and could use some help. PLUS, have you seen the packaging?! So simple but oh my gah, I was sold as soon as I saw it! <3

Matte Chic Lip Lacquer in RD302 Seulgi Burgundy

Dear My Lips-Talk Case in #16 and #18
Dear My Glass Tinting Lips-Talk in GR701

Ahh, the Etude House stuff was super on-a-whim purchasing. For example, the Matte Chic Lip Lacquer I’d seen be talked about on YouTube, so I know there’s some hype surrounding it, but what made me choose to buy it? Embarrassingly, the fact that it’s a Red Velvet collab colour. And I guess I like like, two of their songs? Ha, random, I know, but that kind of spurred me on to just giving in and buying it. Plus, the colour is very nice!

[feat. RevolutionxEmily 'The Wants' palette + Etude House Matte Chic Lip Lacquer in Seulgi Burgundy]

As for the other lip things… to be honest, I was entirely sold on the idea of being able to customise your lip colour and case to the point where you can even get engraving done as a complimentary service, like so:

(oh my gah how cool is that?!?!??)

Pretty damn cool, right?? I thought so too!! ;D

So that’s all the k-beauty products I bought this time! I did want to buy some sheet masks as well, but in the end didn’t see the point as, like I said, this stuff isn’t easy (or even possible?) to find in the UK, so I’d end up with like, a week of nice skin and then never again? Eh, can’t be bothered, maybe next time if I can afford to buy in bulk!

BONUS: Also I spent so much at the Etude House store that they gave me some skin care freebies! Yay! =D

Note: Ah. So, I just got reminded that you can get Tony Moly at Selfriges... but like, that hardly counts, right? Personally I think that it's so expensive there that you might as well fly to France and just get it from Sephora! xP

Miss A Mini Haul! (and review?)~

Being as poor as I am, I don’t get to shop all that often. So instead I choose to live vicariously through others on YouTube posting their many haul videos and THUS, I discovered the gem that is shopmissa.com!

(sorry for the rubbish glare in the pic, but i really wanted to show off what little packaging i had left and there is next-to-no lighting in my room so flash was sadly a must!)

The real treasure about Miss A (particularly if you live in the US) is that everything, and I mean everything (well, sort of…) is $1! Oh my gah WHAT!? But that’s not all! According to the many review videos I have watched, the products, despite their unbelievable price point, are pretty damn decent too! Can this be true?! I decided to make a little purchase to find out for myself!

As you can see I only bought 5 items totalling at $5 (roughly £3.90) and at a glance they all look pretty promising…

AOA Brush Cleaning Egg - $1 - available from Miss A (also available in other colours!

While I haven't fully utilised these yet, I can say from at least playing around with the ‘tools’ (and by playing i mean touching and rubbing them…), the quality is really quite amazing for being so cheap - the hand mirror in particular - and while I have yet to use the face scrubby or the brush cleaner I have poked at more expensive equivalents in shops and these feel pretty darn comparable to those, especially the brush cleaner. One thing for sure is that they don't feel cheap.

These beauties, however, I have already used and tested and they are the BOMB! Lame I used that terminology, but seriously, they’re great! I’m really sad I only bought two (and i will elaborate on why in a bit) but am really quite happy with the ones I did get so far.

The metallic one is the slightly less awesome of the two, as it requires a little bit of work to get the coverage full and even, but is still a great colour, very metallic and does dry down completely matte! The other one however… ugh! I love it so much! The colour is absolutely gorgeous and despite looking more pink in the tube, once it fully dries down is more purplish in colour, which is right up my alley! The pigmentation and coverage is great, really easy to work with and again, this dries down matte and is completely budge-proof.

All in all, Miss A is one heck of a remarkable discovery and I am so happy to have found it! Not only are their products pretty darn decent*, but there’s tons of them too! From socks to hair accessories to brushes to individual eyeshadows, they have them all!

Now for the boring (but important) bit of this post. The reason I only bought 5 things, despite them all being so cheap and there being soooo much to choose from, is because of shipping. Miss A’s international shipping is a flat rate of £9.95, which is pretty fair for something coming from the US. But then there’s customs and sadly, the limit before having to pay customs (which in my experience so far has totalled in at between £8 and £25) is currently £15. However, that being said, I honestly don’t mind making a few small orders of just under £15 just avoid potentially painful and unpredictable customs charges, as in the end the value of everything, including postage, is still a really decent price. So yeah, just a bit of a warning for those of you looking into doing a bit of a shop with Miss A!

And on that note, I shall end this post! Hope you liked it and see you in like 4 months time when I next post! xD

Philippa. x

*Miss A carries their own brands AOA and a2o, as well as other brands like Elf, Kleancolor, LA Color, Beauty Treats, etc. Obviously the quality of the products will vary from brand to brand, but I only purchased from the AOA line, so my comments on how AMAZING everything is is, for now, exclusive to that line.

Holiday Beauty Haul!~

Someone once said to me that the whole point of going on holiday was to spend money, and while I still argue that that isn’t really true, I sadly did end up spending all the money during my recent summer holiday trip, sigh.

Okay, so looking at it all, it’s not really all THAT much, but still, quite excessive for someone with no money and especially weird for someone who probably uses beauty products like, once a week… =/

But how could I help myself? Look at all that Sephora goodness!! Why don’t we have a Sephora yet anywhere in the UK?! Oh, the injustice… but anyway, whilst having the rare pleasure of being in an ACTUAL Sephora store I had to pick up some of their little own brand products and the mini perfumes in particular are just the perfect stocking filler type purchase I just couldn’t resist!

Tarte Tartelette In Bloom (Tartelette 2) palette - (currently unavailable on QVC, sadly)

Also in Sephora I picked up these lovelies as, sadly, they aren’t available anywhere in the UK either, so… yeah. Actually, that’s a lie, Tarte products recently became available on QVC, but it’s not really the same as buying the stuff in person, amirate?! And the ‘Tartelette In Bloom’ palette has been on my wishlist ever since it first came out and I saw Bunny (a.k.a. Grav3yardGirl) post a video about it and I am sooooo happy to finally own it, so yayyy! And it smells good too!

Look at how cute these bits are!! I know that ‘kawaii’ is Japanese and Tony Moly is a Korean brand, but whatever, all their stuff is just so kawaiiii!! Upon visiting their store I made it a point to leave with at least one panda product  (thank you tumblr) and just look at how cute that panda eye stick is?! And it works well too, so worth it! As for the bamboo gel thing, look at that packaging! Not as cute, but still very cool!

(honestly not sure where to find links to this stuff online, sorry!)

Lastly, I got a few interesting things I found in Daiso, which is basically like Poundland but the Japanese version. I’ve noticed there’s been a bit of a craze with charcoal beauty products recently and couldn’t help myself when I saw these as I reaaaally wanted to try it out but couldn’t afford anything back home, so I’m really happy I found these! Goodness knows after the torture my skin has been going through this summer I’m going to need some extra help, and if YouTube is telling the truth then this should do the trick!

So again, not THAT much stuff, but still enough to be considered a haul, right? At least it’s a new post I guess… first post of the year, woop woop! (lol, whoops more like it’s already september!!)

BONUS: I SPENT SO MUCH MONEY AT SEPHORA I GOT ALL THESE FREE SAMPLES! HOW AWESOME IS THAT?!!? xD

MAJOR MOTEL MADNESS! a.k.a. Super Sample Sale haul~

If Motel Rocks ever opens a store in London, I totes get dibs on a job as their star salesperson. ;D

'Jokes' aside, I recently had the pleasure of once again assisting the London Motel team with running the recent sample sale and let me just say, being surrounded by all that Motel goodness with all the credits I earned, I seriously felt like a kid in a candy store and here is what I got with said credit!:

TALK ABOUT A MEGA-HAUL, RIGHT?! Sadly, due to lack of space and botheredness, I couldn't take clearer pictures of the clothes without them coming out looking like blah eBay photos, so this is as good as it's gonna get. Soz. IF that is such a bother, however, listed below (in roughly clockwise order) are all the deets of the above clothes so you can go and easily Google them for better photos, should you wish to:

Pearl Dress in Mighty Criss Cross (RRP £42 - SSP* £15) // Kadie Skirt in Magenta (RRP £25 - SSP £5) // Sunstone Bikini in Cosmic (RRP £35 - SSP £5) // Lapis Bikini in Harlequin (RRP £35 - SSP £5) // Louski Dress in Black Mesh (RRP £25 - SSP £15) // Nessy Dress in Black Spandex (RRP £38 - SSP £15) // Aleka Skirt in Black (RRP £29 - SSP £5) // Mademoiselle Dress in Tiger Rose (RRP £38 - SSP £15) // Peridot Swimsuit in Black (RRP £35 - SSP £5) // Deborah Studded Sleeve Dress (RRP £32 - SSP £15) // Bernice Bralet in Purple Lace (RRP £35 - SSP £5) = TOTAL VALUE OF £340!!

Haha, totes looks like I just bought a whole new wardrobe... and believe it or not, this isn't even everything, BUT, I decided to not include the other stuffs as they weren't for me, so yeah. Oh, actually, there is ONE more thing I got for myself and it also just so happens to be my favourite of the lot! Behold the beauty (contrasted by my hideousness, but whatevs) of the 'Honey Fluffy Cardigan in Purple' (RRP £52 - SSP £15)!

EDIT!: So, feeling all excited about the relaxing weekend ahead of me I TOTALLY forgot that I was to be working again on Monday (clearing up post-sample sale) and so would therefore be getting more stuff! It's not all that much, but I felt it would be a shame not to include them in this post as well, so here they are, the final pieces!

Yoko Dress (RRP £42 - SSP £15) // Maggie Top in Japanese (RRP £25 - SSP £5) // Grace Studded Dress (RRP £45 - SSP £15) ... making the actual total value about £452!! Mind blown much?!

Miss the sample sale? Can't wait for the next one? Worry not, for with the code below you too are able to get a rad discount on your Motel purchases, so you're welcome! xD

http://motelrocks.com

In other news, whilst working at the sample sale, I was interviewed by Motel, apparently, for an upcoming street team feature on their blog - how exciting! I'll admit, my answers were wayyy lame, but still, it did feel kind of cool to even get asked in the first place, so yay for that at least! I'll probs tweet the link to it if/when it comes out, so keep your eyes peeled!

Anyway, that's all for now, I guess. Hopefully there won't be SUCH a long gap between this and my next post, but we'll just have to see how things go, I suppose... but yeah, bye for nowww!

PS.: before anyone looks at all the stuff and thinks 'hey! maybe i should volunteer next time too and get loads of goodies!' or 'that's so not fair that you get all of that without really paying for it!', just know that this was the product of over 24 hours of repeatedly organising rails of clothes, repeatedly picking up clothes off the floor and re-hanging them, carrying very heavy piles of clothes up and down stairs and being on my feet for a good majority of the time - all within the space of 3 days. it was a lot of hard work and i am absolutely shattered, not to mention the fact that i was aching so much after the first day that when i got out of bed the next morning i immediately collapsed, so please consider that before remarking either of the aforementioned comments.
PPS.: that is not to say you shouldn't volunteer, given the chance - go for it! but just don't let your lust for piles and piles of yummy motel clothes make you sign up for more than what's good for you! ;D

Motel Rocks Sample Sale haul!~

Ahhh, I'm so excited that I get to do another haul post!! Coz you know what that means? New goodies, yayyy!

So last week, one of my all-time favourite brands, Motel Rocks, held another one of their super fabulous sample sales in London and this time, as a street team member, I was able to help make it all happen as a volunteer by getting all the clothes ready, assisting the showroom set up beforehand and helping run everything on the opening day itself.

As thanks for my hard work (12 grueling hours in total!), the Motel team kindly gifted myself and the other volunteers with some store credit, meaning... immediate shopping spree, wheee! And so, without further ado, here's all the stuff I got with said credit! x3

-original price = £22 (each)
-sample sale price = 2 for £10!

-original price = £40
-sample sale price = £15!

Motel Camilla Dress in Black
-sample sale price = £15!

Motel Jenna Crop Knit Jumper in Grey
-sample sale price = £10

Motel Kasha Bralet in Black
-sample sale price = £7 (2 for £10!)

-original price = £25 (current online sale price £20!)
-sample sale price = £7 (2 for £10!)

---

Total spent = £60
Total value = almost £200!

I must say, I was very lucky in the sense that most of the stuff I got is or was in my wish list at some point or other, so how cool is that? Just had to spend all my free time perusing through hangers and hangers to find it all... but, overall, the end rewards were definitely worth the aching wrists and feet!

For those of you who missed out on the sample sale this time and can't wait for a bargain to come by soon enough, fret not!, for just below this is a banner with a code which you can use at any time for a 20% discount on all* Motel Rocks purchases! Woooo, happy days for everyone! =D

Leg garters mini haul!~

A few posts ago I wrote about how I ordered some leg garters and had already received the Urban Outfitters one (debuted in this post) and was just waiting on the other two before I could make a post about them, and now that I have all of them, well, here it is!

As I just said, the first one I received was the Urban Outfitters one and I bought it more out of curiosity more than anything (that's the great thing about ebay - curiosity satisfied at little cost!), especially after seeing the way blogger Ashley J rocks hers on a regular basis. However, before I could even sample it, I discovered the Little Black Mess garter from Choies.com and fell in love with it instantly! In my haze of absolute want for the darn thing, I bought it with only little hesitation, only to regret the amount of money I spent almost instantly. And how did I resolve that? By seeing if etsy.com had anything cheaper to make up for it. Erm... what? xD

When I found the Hellosullivan shop there I was totally amazed by the variety and the affordability of everything! I wanted it all! It actually took me a while to buy this one, as I spent aaages deciding between like, 3 designs, though I probably wouldn't have minded had I chosen otherwise. This one was just the cheapest option. And did I mention that they're all made to order? Size-wise that is. How awesome is that? Totally affordable and made specifically for you!

So yeah, to wrap this up, though I'm struggling to find occasions to wear these beauties, I'm glad I have them (even if it did set me back like, £30), and will make sure you see more of them in future outfit posts!

Jewellery haul + Make-up review~

Right, with the internet as my witness, I solemnly vow to not spend any more money unnecessarily. Honestly, I think I have a real problem; I'm turning into whatsherface from 'Confessions of a Shopaholic'!  But my craziness aside, time to reveal the stuff!

I have, since FOREVER, loved rings, and I know that there's already a post a while back showing a bunch of rings that I bought, but let's just ignore that for now...

I bought all of these from various eBay stores, all based in China, so had to wait approximately a month before I got all of them. I think they were all 99p, but I'm not sure... something like that. Out of all of them, I'd have to say the eternity symbol one is my favourite, because it feels to most well made. The 'free' ring on the far right is close second, as it fits really well and has a nicer tone than the other one so yeah. Nothing's tarnished or made my fingers go green yet, so as far as I'm concerned, so far so good!

I'm a little ashamed of this purchase, as it just proves that I can't escape the power of trends. Perhaps not so much this season, but quite recently jewelled cat ears had become quite a thing, probably thanks to people like Pixie Lott. I resisted for ages but then couldn't help myself and bought one off eBay. I mean, it was only £1-£2, so not much damage finance-wise. As it was coming to me from overseas, there was an obvious risk of damage along the way, and true enough, it arrived with an ear snapped off. Thankfully though, at no extra charge I was sent another, which thankfully arrived in one piece, so yay!  Despite what some might think, though it was bought from some random Chinese eBay store, the quality is not far behind that of Topshop or any other UK high street brand, so I'm quite pleased with myself. That's a good £6-ish I saved!

Now the make-up!

(left to right: 'Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate' in shade 04, 'Sleek True Colour' in Mulberry sheen, 'Sleek True Colour' in Vamp matte)

Last time it was eyeliners and mascaras and now it's lipsticks. Oh deary me, what next. I'm kind of annoyed as my skin tone greatly limits which shades suit me. My mother is fairer than me and she can pull of quite a variety, ranging from beige to brown to bright red to dark red. So not fair. So for the past year roughly, I have been on an epic quest to find the perfect lipstick for me at an affordable price. Sadly, I failed, so had to turn to 'real' brands for the answer. Actually, I lie, I found nice shades, but the quality was so bad that it always smudged onto my teeth or didn't spread nicely and basically looked like I just got a paintbrush and smeared some colour onto my lips. Badly. but then what did i expect from £2 lipsticks

ANYWAY, moving on, let's start with the cheaper one. I got the 'Sleek True Colour Lipstick' in two different shades: Mulberry (sheen) and Vamp (matte), both at £4.99. The quality of these lipsticks is really good and the colour lasts for practically the whole day. While I don't have a preference between the two, combining them makes a really lovely in-between colour that's not too sheen-y or too matte, which is, to me, just right. The variety of shades for this lipstick is huge and, as one of the cheaper options out there, is definitely worth a go. The 'Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate' lipstick, though not much more expensive at £5.49, felt a tad too pricey to me (i think it's all psychological), but I'd been wanting to try it out for a while so decided as a last splash to just go for it. I got shade number 04 and am very happy with it. It's a little lighter than the Sleek Mulberry lipstick, but is almost matte, so saves the hassle of having to combine lipsticks for the effect. Overall I'd say that though the variety is less than what Sleek has to offer, the Rimmel lipsticks are absolutely lovely and are true to their name (i.e. long lasting), so also worth a go.

And so ends another blog post. Hopefully I'll be able to stick to my earlier vow and the posts for the rest of the year will not be featuring any more hauls. My poor pocket can only take so much!

PS.: too much writing? if so, let me know with a comment so i know to fix that!
PPS.: i would have annotated the swatch images like last time with the eyeliners, but i have super limited internet so couldn't get on to the manipulation site. sad times.
PPPS.: haha! was too lazy to proof-read and just spotted a note i forgot to take out! it's fixed now, (though i'm sure many already spotted it) but silly me... xD

Preston / London haul~

Not quite sure how this happened, but somehow I ended up spending most of my weekend shopping. Huh. Thankfully I didn't spend too much - I'd say somewhere just under the £40 mark (*cries*). But yeah, it all started out of boredom whilst wandering around Preston town center, and then a couple of days later moved onto London, where sadly, my pocket suffered the most, but oh well, all in the name of fashion I suppose... xD

So here's (for the most part) what I got:

Hello Kitty necklace - £2.50 (3 for £5 sale!) - Claire's Accessories
Hedgehog make-up pouch - £3 (3 for £5 sale!) - Claire's Accessories
Lollipop socks - free, early birthday pressie from Annie! - Topshop

Green tights - £1 - Topshop
Starry fishnet tights - £4 (3 for £5 sale!) - Claire's Accessories

Knitted ears hat - £3 - Topshop
'Cheeky Budha' teddy scarf/hat - £6 - Fusion Boutique

'Oh My Love' purple hi-low skirt - £10 - Topshop

I actually bought more stuff than this throughout the weekend, but as I haven't been home for 3 days and most of the other stuff was just gifts for Annie - who I already saw and gave them to earlier - I wasn't able to take pictures to show them off, so yeah... overall I'd say I got quite a bargain on my stuff, and everything was bought on sale, so woo, go me and my super awesome bargain hunting awesomeness! ^^

Forever 21 Mini Haul~

Okay, so I've watched a few haul videos in the past and have a vague idea of what's meant to happen and all that, but should I stray from the point, I deeply apologise. ><

I am really quite happy with Forever 21 at the moment. I was really quite worried, because I only made my order 2 days ago and according to the site I had missed the last orders for Christmas post, so was kind of sad I'd have to wait til after, but then, was pleasantly surprised when I received a text (they text shipping updates to you - how awesome is that?) saying I would get it this morning! I don't care what people say about Forever 21 being 'the American version of Primark', as they're already miles better in my book. Now let's get to the stuff.

See what I mean by mini? I literally just wanted to buy those bows as part of Annie's xmas present, but then decided I might as well take full advantage of postage costs as well, so yeah...

As I said, I got these for my friend Annie for Christmas as I know she's quite a fan of bows. I really like the watercolour-y ones at the top; they're really soft and cute and I just love the colour! The black and blue sparkly ones are also quite nice, but I don't know, I just prefer the other one really. Had there been more options of colours, I wouldn't have bothered with the bottom two to be honest, but meh, they're still nice anyway.

This was part of their sale and I just thought 'eh, why not' and went for it. I must say, I was quite worried that it wouldn't fit me as a few hair bands I've tried in the past have been far too loose for my head and I end up better suiting children's hair things, but, thankfully, it fits, and quite comfortably at that, so I'm happy. Also, something I'd like to point out, the quality is actually really good for it's price, so I don't see why people keep on comparing F21 to Primark, they're sooo much better! Had I gotten this in Primark, the studs probably would have been plastic or really light and cheap, but this doesn't feel that way at all, so I'm sorry Primark, but it's F21 all the way with me.

This was really just a random buy to bulk up the order a bit and was also part of the sale section. They're a little flimsy to be honest, and the one on the left has a gem missing, but oh well, I'm not exactly going to cause a fuss over it. They were, after all, only 99p...

By the way, don't even bother asking about the colour configuration; simply put, I was too lazy. Anyway, I've been looking for a waist belt recently but hadn't been able to find one reasonably priced or well fitting or nice looking. Until I saw this. Now, anyone that knows me will know I'm a HUGE star fanatic, so this skinny waist belt with cut out stars is just so perfect for me! And it doesn't feel super cheap AND it fits me nicely, SO, I'd say this purchase was quite a win. ^^

So that's what I bought. I would say more, but then it would turn into a review rather than me just showing off my new stuff (or is it already a review? i don't even know!). I will, however, just like to mention, that this is my fourth time ordering from Forever 21, and I am always very pleased with their service and would highly recommend it to anyone liking a good bargain and receiving text messages about when their package is going to arrive. =3

Oh, and one more thing! The Forever 21 online sale is still currently happening, so go have a look, there's tons of really great stuff!

PS.: should i put the links up to all the stuff i bought? i can't really be bothered, to be honest, but if anyone wants links then just let me know and i'll add them. took me ages to go through all the stuff on the site, so if anything here has caught your fancy, better get the link off me than to go scrolling for years to look for it!
